Navigation Skills

Map and compass work on its own terms — from never having used one properly through to precision navigation after dark and off the path. Pick the level that fits.

What’s Covered

Course Levels

Choose the level that matches your current experience and the skills you want to develop. We can help you decide where to start.

Navigation You Put Into Practice

Expect short explanations followed by route legs that you navigate yourself. We adjust the difficulty as your confidence and accuracy develop. Tell us about a particular map, upcoming trip or recurring problem so we can focus the session.

What To Bring

Bring suitable outdoor footwear, waterproofs, warm layers, food, a drink and your glasses if you use them for reading maps. We confirm the required map and compass, equipment provision and any headtorch requirements for agreed night work.

Dates, Location & Booking

We agree the course length, venue, group arrangements, dates and price with you before booking. The written joining information confirms the programme, equipment and inclusions for your session. Photographs illustrate the activities; they are not a promise of a particular venue or route.
